Chester County Bass Masters held their Second of five opens for the season on April 23rd out of Anchor Marine in Northeast Maryland.

30 Teams showed up on a damp spring Saturday to search for some of the Upper Bay's largemouth who were getting ready to do their thing and move shallow.

Air temps at launch were around 54 with a light wind around 10. The tournament launched at 6:00 under total cloud cover with a forecast high of 69. A steady light drizzle started around 7:30 and lasted thru Noon with a slight increase in the winds.

Water temps were in the 60 to 64 degree range depending on where you fished. Water in the Northeast was slightly off colored but clearer out on the Flats and Susky.

Launch was on the low tide with a high tide around noon.

The Flats were busy as a few other tournaments also were launched on various ramps thru out the bay but the fish were eatin as some nice bags were brought to the scales.

Thirteen bags over 15 pounds were brought in, with 3 over 20.

The Big girls were out in force as Twelve bass over 5 pounds were brought to the scale with Seven of them topping the scale at over 6 pounds.

6 cash places were paid, along with 7 sponsor prizes from Susquehanna Tackle, River Bottom Reels, Cabela's of Christiana Mall, Nauti Goose Restaurant, Sunoco, Hi Seas fishing line and Mudd Butt Baits.

All bass were released alive and healthy.

Thanks to everyone who came out to fish, we and our sponsors appreciate the support and friendly competition.
