Bi - Hourly Big Bass Open Tournament

Saturday, September 1st, 2018
Upper Chesapeake - Anchor Marine

This is a Big Bass Open where teams will have four different chances, once every two hours, to win the cash prize for the biggest single fish of each 2 hour period.

Bi - Hourly weigh - in periods will be at 8:00 am, 10:00 am, 12 Noon and 2:30 pm.

Example payout : for a 40 - boat field, each period will pay $ 1000.

Entry fee: $ 125.00 per boat

Prize money: 80% payback
Registration : 4:30 - 6:00 a.m. at the ramp (Anchor Marina)
Launch: First light ( 6:15 a.m. )
Tx ends at 2:30 (number must be turned in at registration table)

Field Format: One or two anglers per boat.

Bi - Hourly weigh-ins shall be in 2 hour increments.

First weigh period will be launch - 8:00 a.m.
Second weigh period will be 8:01 - 10:00 a.m.
Third weigh period will be 10:01 - 12:00 p.m.
Last weigh period will be 12:01 p.m. -2:30 p.m.

Each team can weigh one ( 1 ) fish per period.


No phones, computers, or other devices may be used to share information about what has been weighed in hourly. Anglers must visit the weigh station in person to get updates.

A Contestant must be in the official weigh in line with their fish to be weighed at conclusion of time period in order to be counted for that time period. If not in line the fish will be weighed for the next time period.

Once weighed, fish are released into the recovery tank.

For reasons of conservation, all bass brought to the official weigh-in station must be in a weigh bag with adequate water. If a Participant does not have a weigh bag, one will be provided by TX Staff. Bass must be alive to be weighed-in. Any Participant that is found transporting bass to weigh-in without adequate water in the weigh-in bag will not be allowed to weigh bass during that official period. Subsequent violations will result in forfeiting that bass from official weigh-in. Any Participant that transports more than one (1) bass in a weigh-in bag will not be allowed to weigh-in during that official period. Subsequent violation may result in Participant(s) forfeiting their bass from official weigh-in.

Payouts will be made at the conclusion of the final weigh period.

Payouts will be cash for the largest bass weighed in each of the 4 periods.

No more than 3 fish in livewells at any time.

The tournament is Bass Cat Quest certified, if the overall big fish winner is in a registered Bass Cat and there are 30 or more entries they will receive $ 250 from Bass Cat.

Bi - Hourly TX Rules

1.1 These Rules and Regulations are the Official Rules of the Chester County Bass Masters ( CCBM ) Bi Hourly Big Bass Tournament (TX )

1.2 Participant(s) acknowledge and agree that they have reviewed, understand, and will abide by the Rules as posted on our Facebook page

Participants willingly agree to comply with the Rules for participation in the TX.

1.3 All local, state, and Federal laws and U.S. Coast Guard, and federal boating and fishing regulations shall apply at all times.

Article II: Event Participation and Eligibility

2.1 One or two anglers per paid Boat.

2.2 The Tournament is an "open" amateur Team event.

2.3 Participants less than 18 years of age must be accompanied by a parent or adult. Participants under the age of 18 years may not fish alone in the Event.

2.4 Event officials reserve the right to refuse entry to anyone in their sole discretion.

2.5 Anyone who has failed a polygraph examination and/or been disqualified for fraudulent actions in connection with any type fishing tournament is not eligible to compete.

Article III: Registration and Entry Fee

3.1 Each Boat shall pay an entry fee of $125.00 to participate in the Event. The Entry Fee shall be paid (in full) the morning of the TX in Cash prior to participation. Mail in entries must be received a week prior to the TX to allow time for checks to clear the bank. Boat number will be by first registered, including mail in entrees.

3.2 Registration for the Event closes at 6 a.m. on the day of the Tournament. Participants may register by mail with a paid entry fee, this must be received one week prior to the Tournament.

3.3 There will be no refunds of the Entry Fee unless the event is canceled.

3.4 There will be a Captains meeting at 6:00 a.m. prior to launch for any questions on the rules.

Article IV: Interpretation and Discipline

4.1 Payment of the Entry Fee constitutes a representation by each participant that he/she has read and understands the rules and agree to abide by the rules and any decisions of the TX Director and/or CCBM Staff.

4.2 Interpretation and enforcement of the Rules shall be left to the sole and exclusive discretion of the TX Director and/or CCBM Staff.

Article V: Safety

5.1 During Event hours no alcoholic beverages or drugs (other than those purchased over-the-counter or prescribed by a licensed physician) are to be consumed by Participants or allowed in Participants' boat until the final hourly weigh-in is complete.

5.2 All boats must be equipped with some type of emergency ignition cut-off device (kill switch) on any remote steered outboard while main engine is in use. Kill switch must operate properly, which means when the kill switch is activated the outboard main engine must stop running immediately. Kill switch must be attached to the boat operator at all times while the outboard main engine is in use.

5.3 U.S. Coast Guard approved life jackets are required for each person on board a boat during competition. Life jackets must be worn and strapped, snapped, or zippered securely, and maintained in that condition until the combustion engine is out of gear or shut off. Participants shall check inflatable life vest indicators daily during the Event. Any Participant in violation of this rule will receive one (1) warning and shall be prohibited from weighing bass during that respective weigh-in hour. (Any subsequent violation of this rule will result in the participant(s) being disqualified for the remainder of that day of competition)

5.4 Safe boat conduct must be observed at all times by Participants.

5.5 No boat shall have a motor of higher horsepower than approved by the U.S. Coast Guard plate.

Article VI: Permitted Fishing Areas, Practice, Off Limits, and Hours

6.1 All fish must be caught on and within the official designated TX waters during official TX hours. Participants may fish anywhere on TX waters accessible to the public by boat, except areas designated as "off limits" :

A - A diagonal line from the fixed fishing pier at the town park to the east ( Blue house ) side of the first canal on the left as you leave the marina, this includes the entire Anchor Marina basin and Nauti Goose docks.

B - The Aberdeen Proving Grounds just below Havre de Grace.

C - Below a west-east line across bay from south point of Bush River to south point of Still Pond Cove.

6.2 No one may leave his or her boat to fish or land a fish.

6.3 Participants are limited to use of a primary motorized boat only. No canoes, kayaks, rafts, or flotation apparatuses.

6.4 No Participant may buy, barter or hold a fishing location from any other Participant or Non-Participant for use during any Event day.

6.5 Participants must be in line at the weigh tanks before the end of the respective hour for their fish weight to be tallied and counted in the results of the TX.

Article VII: Methods, Tackle and Equipment

7.1 All bass must be caught on artificial bait by casting only, no trolling with big motor. Participants may use only one rod at any one time. No foul hooking of any bedding fish. A foul hooked "bedding" fish is defined as a fish that does not have at least one hook in its mouth and it must be released

Article VIII: Sportsmanship

8.1 Sportsmanship, courtesy, safety and bass conservation are required from every Participant. Participants shall demonstrate professionalism and integrity in support of the sport of fishing.

8.2 Participants shall act in a courteous manner at all times, especially with regard to boating and angling in the vicinity of non-participants who may be on TX waters.

Article IX: Weigh-in, Points, and Penalties

9.1 All bass weighed-in will become the property of the TX and will be released back into the River alive.

9.2 Bi - Hourly weigh-ins shall be in 2 hour increments.

First weigh period will be 6:00 - 8:00 a.m.
Second weigh period will be 8:00 - 10:00 a.m.
Third weigh period will be 10:00 - 12:00 p.m.
Last weigh period will be 12:00 p.m. -2:30 p.m.

9.3 For reasons of conservation, all bass brought to the official weigh-in station must be in a weigh bag with adequate water. 9.4 No Participant may weigh more than one (1) bass per official 2 hour TX time period. A Bass entered for big bass of the 2 hour period does not carry forward to the next period. Participant's biggest bass is registered into the final overall standings.

9.5 Big Bass must be weighed-in by the boat/team who originally caught the bass and it must be in said team's actual physical possession in the weigh-in line.

9.6 Any artificially weighted bass will be disqualified and the Participants may be subject to prosecution and shall be disqualified from all future CCBM events. Any questionable fish will be subject to inspection.

9.7 Only largemouth and smallmouth will be weighed-in.

9.8 No Boat may have more than Three ( 3 ) bass in possession at any time during official TX hours. When the TX officially concludes, all bass shall be released back into the water.

9.9 In the event of a tie for the overall big bass, the winner will be the Participant that weighs in their fish first during the weigh - in time period.

9.10 Every effort must be made to keep bass alive including proper livewell aeration, treatment and temperature management.

9:11 All prizes will be awarded at the conclusion of the final weigh in period.

Article X: Communications

10.1 Cell phones and other communication devices may NOT be used for the purposes of locating or finding fish and/or communicating with other Participants or Non-Participants regarding such.

10.2 Cell phones may not be used to call persons waiting at weigh station to find out weights of fish previously weighed.

Article XI: Boat Inspection

11.1 All Participants, by entering this TX hereby agree to allow their boat to be boarded and inspected by TX Officials at any time prior to, during, or following the Event, to include, but not limited to, their boat registration, U.S. Coast Guard horsepower rating plate, live-well, rod boxes, closed storage compartments, tackle boxes, life jackets, personal floatation devices, and safety equipment.

11.2 The TX cooperates with local law enforcement, and fish/wildlife officers during the TX. If any Participant is found to be in violation of local, state or federal law during Event hours, he/she/they will immediately be disqualified and unable to compete in future tournaments.

Article XII: Protests and Disputes

12.1 All protests or disputes relating to any matter involving the Rules and/or the TX must be registered in writing with the TX Director within fifteen (15) minutes of the designated weigh-in and prior to delivery of any prizes or winnings. Protests made after the deadline will be disregarded.

12.2 Any protest filed by a Participant shall be heard by the TX Staff. After reviewing the protest submitted, the TX Director shall inform the protesting Participant of the Event Staff's decision. The Event Staff's decision is final and not subject to further appeal.

12.3 The interpretation and enforcement of the Rules will be the sole responsibility of the TX Director and Staff.
