CCBM October 26 Upper Bay Open # 5 Results

Chester County Bass Masters held the last of their 5 Upper Bay Open Series points tournaments for 2019 on October 26th out of Anchor Marine in North East, Maryland.

46 Teams showed up on a cool fall Saturday to search for some of the Upper Bay's largemouth that had been on the feed the past few weeks with the cooler water temps.

At least 10 teams were still in the hunt for the 2019 Points championship, we count 4 of the 5 Open scores for the standings.

Top 5 Teams in Points for the year won sponsor prizes with top team getting $ 500 in cards from Susquehanna Fishing Tackle and Rhino Linings of Delaware.

Air temps at launch were around 48 with little wind. The tournament launched at 7:00 under partly cloudy skies, some sun helped get the temp up mid morning. Temps eventually reached 60 at weigh in.

Water temps were in the 52 to 60-degree range depending on where you fished, with mostly stained to muddy water color.

Launch was on a rising tide, high was 9:30 am with a low around 4:00 pm. A misty rain started briefly around 2:45.

Weigh in was 3:00 pm

19  five fish limits were brought in with 7 other teams having 4 fish.
24  double digit weights were brought to the scales.
11  bass over 4 pounds were weighed in.
  4  bass over 5 pounds were weighed in.
  2  bass over 6 pounds were weighed in.


10 cash places were paid, along with 17 sponsor prizes from Susquehanna Tackle, Rhino Linings of Delaware, Dobyns Rods, Cal Coast Clip n Cull, Bass Cat, River Bottom Reels, Zee Bait Company, Steak & Main Restaurant , BUFF USA, Hi Seas fishing line, Nichols Lures, Batteries+ Store , Gruv Fishing Boxes, Native Tungsten Weights, Venom Lures, Hayabusa Hooks, Cabelas and GRT Jigs.

22 boats participated in $ 60 option pot which paid 3 spots.

Thanks to everyone who came out to fish with us in 2019, we and our sponsors appreciate the support and friendly competition. We'll see you for the 1st CCBM Open in early spring 2020.
We will be running 5 Opens again in 2020 with point totals being kept for your best 4 of the 5 tournaments. As in past years the top 5 teams for the season will receive prize packages to be determined.

First place cash payout and championship plaques went to Jerry Gerlach and Mark Ely. The pair found the right bites to bring in a big bag of 21.57 pounds to take home the top cash spot.

Second place cash went to the team of Duane Essick and Jay Pirollo . The team put together an outstanding 5 fish limit weighing in at 18.30 Lbs.
Included in that superb bag was the CCBM 5th Lunker, a 5.48 fat girl that earned them a $ 50 card from Batteries + store in Springfield, Pa.
The Team also took home additional $$$ by entering the $ 60 Option Pot and taking 1st place cash there.
Duane and Jay also received 40 % off cards for Dobyns Rods and a pair of heavy duty zippered Dobyns weigh bags.

Third place money was won by the team of Darrell Ellis and Corey Ellis who brought a 5 fish limit to the scales that topped out at 17.38 Lbs.
Darrell and Corey also took home additional $$$$ by entering the $ 60 Option Pot and taking 2nd place cash there.
The team also received cards for 40 % off Dobyns Rods

Fourth place dough was earned by the team of Fran Pratt and Matt Pratt who weighed in a 5 fish limit for 17.04 Lbs with their big bass going 4.45 pounds. Another strong finish for the team.
Fran and Matt also took home additional $$$ by entering the $ 60 Option Pot and taking 3rd place cash
Congrats on a top 5 finish.


Fifth place cash went to the team of Dave Shellenberger and Bryan Giren who weighed in a 5 fish limit of 16.76 Lbs.
The team also had the 3rd Lunker of 5.86 lbs. which won them a set of Cal Coast Clip n Culls 2.0, non puncturing cull tags.

Sixth place coin was collected by the team of Ron Lutz and John Detwieler  who brought 5 fish to the scales for 16.76 Lbs. with a big bass of 4.55 Lbs.


Seventh place money was snagged by Duke Nave with 5 fish weighing 16.59 Lbs. and a big fish of 4.40 Lbs.   A nice weight for fishing solo.

Eighth place cash spot was collected by the team of Ken Cassella and Bruce Reichert with a 5 bass limit for 16.23 pounds and a big fish of 4.01 Lbs.


Ninth place money went to Keith Cowan and Zach Cowan bringing in a 5 bass limit for 16.09 Lbs and a big fish of 4.22 Lbs.


Tenth place and the last cash payout went to the team of Michael Duarte and Victor Auriema who weighed in a limit going 15.03 Lbs with a big fish of 3.15 Lbs.


11th thru 20th spots won gift cards from Zee Bait Company, River Bottom Reels ,Steak & Main restaurant of North East, Gruv Fishing, BUFF USA, Venom Lures, Native Tungsten, Nichols Lures, GRT Jigs and Hi Seas Line.

First team to finish just out of the money was awarded a $ 75.00 gift card from Zee Bait Company a local plastic manufacturer from Chester Springs, Pa.


11th position and the Zee Bait card was collected by Jim Brousseau  and Dar Drayo who brought 5 fish to the scales for 14.46 Lbs. with a big fish of 3.13 lbs.

12th place and a $ 50.00 River Bottom Reels card for reel maintenance from Kevin Geesey in Elizabethown, Pa. was collected by the team of John Valdez and Taylor Stewart who brought 4 bass to the table for 14.29 Lbs. and a big fish of 4.19 Lbs. Great weight for 4 fish.

13th place earned a $ 50 Steak & Main restaurant card. Located on Main St. in North East it's rated one of the top Steak houses in the Mid Atlantic.
Donnie Tomlin and Dominic Simone brought in 5 bass for 14.25 Lbs. with a big fish of 4.02 Lbs.

14th place received $ 50 in Spinnerbaits and Lures from Nichols Lure company, made in the USA in Georgia. Ed Kay and Darren Campbell weighed 5 fish for 13.92 lbs with a nice 3.85 big bass.

20th place went to Don White and Ralph Kappenstein who took home a $ 30 GRT Jig card, quality Jigs from York, Pa.
They weighed in 5 bass for 11.60 Lbs.

We had two other unique Sponsor Prizes, a a $ 200 gift card from Rhino Linings of Delaware for the smallest 5 bass limit weighed in for the tournament.
Plus, a $ 50 Cabelas card to the single heaviest Smallmouth weighed in.

Troy Rosenswieg and Brian Krout brought 5 bass to the scale for 9.60 Lbs which won them a $ 200 gift card from Rhino Linings of Delaware.
