... and you subscribe to the vs chanel...
you may want to check out the roland martin show.
the show is of him fishing one or some of the ny city reservoir waters with frequent nybass.com poster, friend of his, and very good fisherman, marty friedman. not sure what to expect, but mr. friedman has been in the bass game for about as long as mr. martin has, and knows quite a bit about the game.
on nybass.com, marty frequently posts pics of over 5lb fish pulled from these row boat only waters and offers a bunch of good bassin insight within his message board posts.
not a fan of fishing shows, but i've learned a thing or two from marty's posts over on nybass and i think he is as good a fisherman as he is a character.
i'm settin my alarm to go off in a few hours in hopes of learning a thing or two.
to set up the show, i thing they filmed on a frigid fall day in 2007.
if no one watches, i'll fill you in with anything i gain from watching.
...unless i sleep through my alarm, which happens quite a bit.
Who the heck is going to see this post in time? It's 09:13, I just got out of bed and I see this. Darn J/J, I hoped you taped this, since I missed this and it's probalby the only show I would have wanted to watch today. Darn you........... Darn you to heck. And what movie is that from? No, it's not a contest. Ike's show last night (Versus) was from N.Y. City, but he was fishing mostly salt water. He did fish for bass in Central Park and had a few people wondering WTF was this guy doing fishing in Central Park? But he caught a couple bass. I can't believe I watched a show featuring Ike, but I did, musta been bored to death. Whatever the case, I AM NOT planning on fishing in New York City any time soon.
yeah, i know, suggestion was a little late. i just figured that with some of the people on this board being fisherman and all, that someone may be up at the crack of dawn.
anyway, i watched the show, sort of.
woke up, turned on the tv. fell back asleep immediately. somehow woke up to catch the last 15 minutes. saw them catch a few fish, but marty wasn't doing a lot of talking. mostly learned that the idea of rowing roland martin around in a jon boat doesn't seem that appealing to me.
didn't get a chance to see ike's ny city episode, but i did see his show a week or two ago when he was on the potomac.
btw... fish nyc???
this was the view i had when in 7 world trade center for work a couple months back...

couldn't get any work done, cuz i kept wondering how many fish were down there for me to catch.
btw2...

Quotemostly learned that the idea of rowing roland martin around in a jon boat doesn't seem that appealing to me.
Yeah J/J, I can hear it now:
Son, row me over there. This shimano rod and reel is the best combo money can buy, smooth, yessir. And my Yamamoto baits work themselves. Son, didja see that one jump? Row me over there, I'll pitch in there with my 200# test Spiderwire, it's also good for pulling tree stumps out of the swamp. A bass bites this Gamagatsu #23 EWG red hook, he'll never shake it loose. Row faster Son, this is only a 1/2 hour show. Wheres my Megastrike? It's certainly warm out here today, do you like this shirt, it's from Bass Pro Shop, y'know. You don't got no 'lectronics on this tub - Son you need some Lowrance sonars and a GPS. Son, sure is crowded on here with you, me and the camera man - you need a new TRITON boat.
Don't think that's how I'd want to spend a day either.
son son son son son son son.....................and so on. there is to reason i cant watch roland martin. 1. he says son 1,000,000 times a show, 2. his tan around is eyes bothers me also, he looks like a racoon, and wait there might be three things...............oh yeah, he talks about anything but fishing in his shows, but other than that he's cool i guess. Hey J/J if you want to learn something just ask bruce  he can look it up for you at work  tell 'em brucey.
JJ, I would have tuned in if I had seen your post prior to today. For what it is worth, I will admit that I kinda have a love/hate relationship with fishing shows. They are kinda like porn for me . . . the more I watch, the more worked up I get, the more I want to get out and go fishing . . . Things are really bad when I have "baby duty" on Saturdays (my wife works a night shift on Fridays so she comes home and sleeps and I watch the tikes). While making breakfast, I tune into those ESPN shows (yes I said it, I even watch that annoying Bostonian, Charlie Moore). And on those Saturdays, just like watching porn, I think about how I would love to just get out and do it but know all I can do is just watch and live somewhat vicariously through the lives of others.
Anything but Charlie Moore....
even if he didn't have that annoying accent
Well I guess that kinda eliminates COUSIN Charlie from comming down to address one of our CCBM meetings. I've been working hard to find a date, compatable with his schedule............ and surprise you all.
It would be better to invite cousin Dinty
No way, I don't speak to him anymore........... since he swapped labels on a can of Alpo.....................
wishing,
lol at the porn analogy.
i can barely watch any of the fishing shows these days. the product push and placement turns me way off.
i've only seen the potomac episode of ike's show. didn't notice much, if any, product talking going on, so he's got that goin for him.
i do like the scott martin challenge. lots of talk about them kistlers, but for the most part a pretty informative show with a fun concept.
i'm bummed i missed last weeks episode where he was fishing on middle saranac lake up in the adirondacks. i'll be up there again this summer, so i would have liked to have seen how they fished the lake.
hope they put that episode online soon.
bruce,
charlie moore?
clubcrashers?
A lot of Online fishing shows here:
http://myoutdoortv.com/
and here:

Shaw Grigsby did a show from the Upper Saranac a couple weeks ago. Loaded up on smallies.
Can you say AWAY TX. 2009, well I'd consider it.
I also think Scott Martin is much better entertainment than his dad, I don't care how much he raves (ie: plugs) his Kistler rods. I love 'em too.
I am also beginning to wonder who has the bigger library....... Eli or Ryan
