Title: Potomac OFF LIMITS areas READ IF YOU ARE GOING TO THE POTOMAC
Post by: Pillager on April 16, 2008, 07:51:43 AM
Found this out at the District 3 meeting Monday night.

There are two places off limits to fishing until June 15th.  It's a new experiment one of the governing organizations is doing.

This was in a D.C. newspaper but you can't find any information on the internet about it from the PRFC or Maryland DNR.  And the fines are VERY LARGE.

In Chicamuxen it seems there are two white pin markers and that's all to mark the area you can't fish.  It has been noted that it is very hard to see them and figure it out.  So go looking for them and stay outside the markers.

There is also a 35MPH speed limit in Mattowoman Creek outside the 6MPH zone that is marked all the way to the mouth of the creek.  This is in place by the US Navy.

All this stuff is a bunch of crud since nothing is marked, but it won't stop you from getting a very large fine.  It has also been noted that ignorance of the rules are not stopping them from writing fines.
