so i went out fishing yesterday at black rock dam. well i went to fish but that never happened. my buddy wanted to get his boat in the water so we took his. he has a little 14' jon boat, with a 3 horse gamefisher that out dates JJs boat. anyway, the motor didnt run so we spent a total of 10 minutes on the water, and 5 of that was rowing back to the ramp. thats where the fun began. as i was waiting to back the trailer down the ramp, there was a truck blocking off the whole area in front of the ramp. after waiting for a couple minutes, the guy hops out of his truck with a skill saw and starts looking over the boat. so i holler over to him that hes in my way. he hops back in his truck and moves back over to the parking lot. as he passes me he sticks his head out of the window and the following conversation happens " sorry im sinking the SS minnow." sinking? "yea ya want it?" no but... and then the guy drove off. so i pull out my buddies boat and we go back down to the boat ramp where of couple of our friends were out running their jet ski. so we sit there and shoot the shit for a coulple minutes and sure enough, here comes the this guy again. only this time, the registration was CUT out of the boat, and there were a couple other holes in it. he proceeds to back it down the ram, the whole time the motor is hitting the ramp and tearing apart the transom. so i get his plate number and my buddy calls the cops on him. well the cops didnt get there in time and the guy left. but its not like they did this at midnite or sneaky about it. it was 7pm and there were probably about 10 other people around the ramp when he did this. and its not like it a small boat, it was a big 24 or so foot cruiser. its only about 8 foot deep there, thats just asking for a skier to hit it. hopefully the cops find this guy and fine him out the ass.
Ah the subtlety of those fine Philadelphia boaters ! Its a shame he didnt float it to 20 ft of water and then sink it cause its probably going to be a good piece of fish holding structure in the not too distant future. well at least sinking a boat is appropriate. They would sink cars and trucks in the tidal delaware in much the same fashion. I once pulled into this little backwater cut on the Delaware just north of the Tacony bridge and to my amazement tapped an f350 econoline with the skeg on my motor. Thank my dogged conservative boating sense for never going anywhere on the tidal Delaware for the first time on plane !!
