i was in my thinking room (bathroom :grin: ) thumbing through the bass pro catolog and seen these. are they better then regular shoes in the rain? i wear flipflops when its hot out, but hate soggy shoes.

i bought a pair of gore-tex trail hiking sneakers for the rainy days.
lots of companies make them. i went with vasque. they've proved themselves pretty waterproof over the winter.
north face, salomon, and cabelas are a few brands.
went with gore-tex for breathability.
i also got some of this stuff...

sprayed it on some sneakers and a hat.
works good on the hat. i ran it under the shower and the water ran right off.
didn't work as well on the sneakers, but it still helped some.
i think i may be in business after another couple applications.

Any sort of strapped sandals. NO CROCS, EVER!
For heavy rain I have low cut duck boots. Feet are alway dry.
I have a pair of sandals from Cabelas (their brand) for a couple of years now. Had a Columbia pair before them. The soles are neoprene or something like that, the tops are a synthetic webbing. I wear them all summer, as soon as it's warm enough out. Rain, shine, doesn't matter. And you can walk in the water at the ramp with no problems too. If they do get wet, they drain off and even though they may not completely dry right away, the are very comfortable and do not hold any water. Much safer than crocs or flip flops.
I don't see them offered at Cabelas any more, these are similar from Lands End. The only real difference is the straps criss cross on these.
