Yea, you might fill those caverns, but you'll never use most of it LOL....
I filled mine , and probably don't touch 50 % of the stuff in there. took a while, but you can fill them.
Going to take a day and empty all mine, take everything out I have not used in a few years and get rid of it, probalby lighten the boat up by 50 pounds at least. :grin:

Nah, the rods are light ....and you always need some backups.
But probably could take 3 or 4 out as they have not seen light in a few years.
Rod sleeves on them are nice, you can stack a lot of the back ups on the rod locker floor under the rod racks.

i've stepped out of the seventies. the boat is almost colorless. lol.
rides a lot different than the disco champion. not as "easy" to drive through the ruff stuff. now that i have a few days of driving under my belt though, i've figured out how to drive over waves instead of through them.
so far, i'm digging the boat quite a bit. only problem is that the boat doesn't seem to like to have fish over 15" in the livewell. lol.
oh, and i've barely put a dent in the storage.

My father-in-law just bought a new tow vehicle, you need one of those now don't ya? Dodge is giving their trucks away free, you just have to purchase their life time oil change program. :grin: That's right, he bought the truck I wanted. HEMI, quadcab, 4x4 - Earl now is in the full size truck. Maybe I'll have him drag my boat to Canada this year. :rolleyes:

I'm not a deisel guy, fuel is more costly and I don't pull enought weight. The HEMI is just a "gas" to drive without the trailer, and with it - you hardly know it's back there. Earl's has 40 more horses than me, and it RUNS well. 390 HP in an engine that gets 15 - 18 MPG is pretty darn good. Mine runs good, but his makes me want to UPGRADE!

You can't beat a Hemi for towing. Like you said, you don't even realize the boat is back there. My Hemi Durango doesn't know that a 4000 load is behind it.
Average MPG when not towing is 14 - 17, highway towing around 12.

All that noise, smell, and higher priced fuel.........just a bit of overkill for towing a bass boat LOL.........Now if you need to tow a 15.000 lb. rig, yea.....but for standard bass boats 3500 - 5000 lbs. You can't beat the power/costs of a hemi. :grin:

You weren't around for the original 340-360 's.
The 1969-70 340 was listed at a factory 275 HP, but revised after the insurance companies checked into it to 325 HP, pre smog equipment, those 340's where a strong motor, they would keep up with the 383 magnums. Only thing from Chrysler that would outrun them was the original 426/ 425 HP Hemi.
You could actually work on those motors unlike today's. :grin:

8K - 10k to start depending on the list, other incentives can get you lower. Depends on how aggressive the buyer is - if you lowball them they will drop prices. You can't get ridiculous, but undercut the dealership's best deal by another grand and you should still make a deal. Truck mentioned above was 36K list. Time is now. Chrysler has stopped production for a while so what's on the lot is what you have to pick from. As inventory shrinks, dealing will get tougher. Remember, trade-ins are not worth much - better any trade you might have to sell private. Dodge trucks get a lifetime drivetrain warranty - that may mean a lot, and the goverenment will back any Chrysler warranty in the future should they incur any additional problems. I had employee pricing when I bought mine in '05 and with other incentives saved a bit more than 9K off sticker. Things are more buyer's market now so you should do better. If you have a choice between the 4.7 V8 and the HEMI - take the HEMI. EPA milage is VERY close (1 -2 MPG) and there is NO comparison in the trucks performance. If you stop on a lot - be prepared, the salemen are vultures right now (as if they weren't in the past).
im just not a huge fan of chrysler. my dad's dakota has given him a lot of problems.
im more into GM, but maybe ill go look into the dodges....the new ones DO look outstanding

I've owned Chrysler products (about 15 vehicles) since 1984, I won't say I've had zero problems over 25 years, I don't think anyone could. I've also had 2 Dakota's - the '97 did have a problem with the front ball joints, which was covered under warranty. Other than that nothing major, just normal wear & tear and a couple did see nearly 100,000 miles. Earl's 95 Dakota was just retired to to a corroded gas tank that can only be replaced from a junk yard. My big truck has been an absolutely a terrific truck - personally I would not even look at another brand unless, of course, BASSCAT starts making trucks. :rolleyes:

Chevy.......they just suk........Great motors though
Dodge......Looks great with a bass boat on the back.........and are nice looking...
The reason I formed this opinion is because I had all these brands. My dodge smelled of anti freeze since I got it........Chevy just fell apart but still ran........... Ford is tough and is still tight after 1300000 miles. Just my opinion.

I have 8 trucks Boogs. Fords seem to always last the longest. I am down to one chevy and the rest fords. Cant wait tll the chevy is retired. Actually cant wait till I retire.
Read that post again. it says 1.3 MILLION miles... I'm going to assume that's a typo though.
My Dakota, that I bought used at 90K, has over 108K on it and is still solid. The transmission doesn't want to shift for a few seconds if it's cold out but then it kicks in and it's fine. Knock on wood, but the only real problem I had with it is the condenser in the air went. I think my PT Cruiser just went too. Seems they last on average about 8 years in Chryslers and then you have to replace them.
Have you changed your tranny oil and filters? And if you haven't changed your brake fluid yet - that's over due. Cooling system flush and drain, also. I would hazzard a guess you're NOT like most guys and ignore fluid changes - but a lot do and that's when the trouble starts.
I had my Toyota 4Runner for 14 years and 189,000 miles. Still ran the same as when new and never had to fix anything. Only maintenance. Body was rusting away when I retired it.
I have my Mitsubishi for 8 years now and 130,000 miles. Still runs like the day I bought it. Never had to fix a thing. Only maintenance.
Not used for work but I have used them both for off road adventures...
