Title: Shimano did right...
Post by: Eli on July 18, 2017, 08:39:57 PM
I broke my Cumara drop shot rod on the Conowingo.  Sent it back to Shimano under a lifetime warranty and they sent me a new rod.  Got it today.  Since they don't make the Cumara anymore (bummer, I like them and have two others) they sent me a Zodias which is a nice rod too.  They no longer offer a lifetime warranty on any rods.  Now only 1 year.  Might keep me from buying from them again.

G Loomis is now a Shimano line.  I wonder if it will change they're warranty.  So far not per the website...

What really sucks is that the Zodias is a cheaper model rod than the Cumara. Too many people abused the "lifetime warranty" so they changed it. The warranty was there to cover manufacturing errors, not to replace a rod that was shut in the car door. Loomis warranty is also changed. Switch to Dobyns or St. Croix. They charge $60-$80 depending on the rod series no questions asked.
