This is my first bass boat so I have some questions. I'm sure I'm asking the right crew! Forgive my naivity. I have multiple graphs when I tow the boat should I have the covers off? They seem secure but maybe I'm supposed to remove them. I don't want to lose anything. I see I can order locks that need a special bit to mount the graphs. Is this something I should do? Is theft a real problem? Should I worry if I run in Walmart before a tournament? I was thinking about getting a room the night before some of the tournaments do i need to worry? I purchased a navionics card 2 of my units are linked but I can't see the card on the other helix. I can see marked points but that's it. Is this normal. Is anybody running hummingbird? Want to give a course? I'm used to a 40ft boat having big tie up lines and lots of them. How many do I really need for this boat. I also have power poles. I went to check the engine oil in the tank and had to use a hug pair of channel locks to get ithe cap off. Is that common or are my workouts not going as good as I thought?
I'm not a Humminbird guy but I can answer some of these questions. I take my graphs off every time before I drive anywhere and I store them in a case. However, you can tow with them on. You can buy straps to make sure the covers do not blow off or you can make them yourself. I personally wouldn't leave anything out in a Walmart parking lot. For everything that exists there is someone who wants to steal it. People will steal the most random stuff from your truck, boat or trailer when you are not looking. If you are just at the dock you don't need lots of tie ups. One on each cleat should be fine. Get yourself some dock bumpers to keep your boat from slamming up against the dock while you are not in it. Whoever put your oil tank cap on last probably had a Hercules complex. It doesn't have to be so tight that you can't get it back off. Just tight enough so it doesn't leak or come loose. Hope that help. Congrats on the new boat. Post some pictures. Tight lines!
Thanks for the info . Wow You take them off everytime. I don't know about that there's 4 of them, that seems like a lot of extra work. But at the same time at least you know they're safe. I'll have to look into cases.
I always take my graphs off and keep them in the truck in a case. Only takes a few minutes on and off. Protects them from travel and from theft. I have Hummingbird and would be glad to walk through with you. I found time with the manual to go through all of the menu options and used a few Youtube videos to find recommended settings.
