Title: Going to Reading Show in about an hour...
Post by: Eli on January 19, 2008, 09:48:30 AM
I'm heading to the Reading Show in about an hour.  If you want to join me give me a call on my cell.

Spent 2 hours at the Valley Forge show yesterday during lunch.  (I work 1 mile from there).  Show is generally not worth it, but I did get a Fly Casting lesson that was very good and spent the rest of the time talking with people I know.  Save your money on this one though.

A TWO HOUR lunch?   Very LIBERAL.   Me, I work an 8 hour shift which does not include a meal break............ I believe they used to refer to that as a "sweatshop".  OH, no "breaks" either.  You'd think under those circumstances, I wouldn't be overweight, and have time to read or respond to this board (actually I'm home now and just got up).   Yeah, it's difficult, but I manage somehow.    Have a good time guys, I have to go to work later.

I enjoyed the show.  While the show is the same as in prior years, I realized the value of the show is the people you meet there and the information you get.

Got to meet Roland Martin and get his autograph for my son.  He did a seminar on Patterning Bass that was interesting.  Spent quite a long time talking with the PaF&B Commission Biologist for our area about the health of Marsh Creek and area waters.  He had an interesting take on the health of the lake and bass population.  I'll post notes separately.  Spoke with Bill Donovan from NJ Angler magazine and from NJ Angler fishing show on Comcast.  Spoke with members of Montgomery County Bassmasters.  Spoke with those cute young ladies hanging out of their tops while selling beer. It was all worth it.

Oh yea, also met the guy who started/owned Bass Stalker Jigs.  He just sold the company to Uncle Josh's baits.  Said they would be moving production offshore.  Hopes quality stays since he has a five year royalty agreement  and non compete.

Doc better hold on to what he has, they may go up in value............... maybe I better get another dozen.  I like them, I haven't had much success fishing a jig, until I tried the bass stalker.  They have increased my confidence level a bit, as I have caught more bass on them than any other jig.  Eli, I saw you got a few.... what had worked very well for me at Blue Marsh was using a Yamamoto twin tail hula grub as a trailer.  It bulked up the skirt, slowed the fall and added a bit of flash.  Caught 5 bass on that jig, just none that were large enough to weigh.  Doc will hate me, but I like these on the bass stalkers....

Where in the double tail do you put the hook?

There is a flat spot on the spider legs side that I put the hook through.

Hook from the stranded end, just as you would rig it on a bare jig.  Arms flutter at the front like a craw chunk.   The stranded ends are at the backand intermingle with the jig skirt.
