They don't seem to sell as well as the regular spool reels.  I have one, and if it's a pre-'09 large frame reel - it's pretty big compared to other low profile reels.  Mine is spooled with 20# Hybrid so the extra line capacity comes in handy for the one reel.  Unless you are using heavy line the wide spool is too big for most applications.  It's best suited for heavy freshwater or light saltwater use.

I've heard the same, and if you look at them side-by-side the look virtually identical.  To answer your quesiton - YES, sort of.  I was asleep when I ordered, I had an absolutely fantastic price offered on the Patriarch's but I thought the seller was mistaken on the model - he evidently wasn't.  I got the Patriarch's cheeper than the new small frame Presidents.  Now the "cheap" Patriarch's are gone - probably.  I have three more ordered, whether they will be Patriarch's or Presidents will be determined by the final package price.

i guess as pflueger and abu are both pure fishing companies, they're sharing some stuff.
read a review of the reel on another site. 
the fella that bought the reel and wrote the review spoke very highly of it.

I've been very happy with Pflueger.  I will be checking to see if maybe the spools are interchangable, etc., just to see how close they really are.  I understand, also, that they are made at the same plant - OVERSEAS.  The REVO STX and Patriarch could be clones. :shocked:
