I am not sure if it was the road runner, the lure was very similar but larger.  Anyway, I caught some nice LM with the thing early in the season last year by attaching a charcoal Salty Shad and slowly dragging it on the bottom.  I lost a bunch of the things because of snags.

I checked the name . . . The Sworming Hornet . . . It is very similar to a Blakemore Road Runner but bigger with a bigger hook.  The BPS catalog has a picture.

Boogieman, these are the things that baitmonkey is telling me to buy for this spring: 

1)  Boat w/ jet motor
2)  new waders (in case I never get the boat)
3)  new medium action crankbait rod
4)  new trout rod
5)  some Salty Shads
6)  some of those jig heads with the spinning thing underneath (bought a couple last year and had some luck early in the season)
7)  some purty' lookin' crankbaits (baitmonkey knows that crankbaits always look good in the box)

BPS was having a sale on their Crankin Stick.  Its not a Loomis, but it works well from what I have heard, and does the job.

May wanna look into that...

I too have looked at the BPS Crankin' Stick . . . I didn't purchase it because the rod does not have the "weight balancing system" that screws into th but.  I am a big fan of having some extra weight in the handle to make the tip seem "lighter".

WTBF - the BPS  CRANKIN' STICKS are a heavy rod to begin with, adding additional weight to the butt would make it a bear to throw over the course of a day.  It may seem to "balance the rod, but adding a reel will help some.  On a cranking rod I actually prefer it be a little "tip heavy" as I usually run the bait with the rod tip down.  After you hook up, it doesn't make any difference.  Where I really want a rod thats fairly well "balanced" is when fishing plastics - with the rod tip up.  Helps with the overall feel of the bait on the bottom.  Quality rods are fairly well balanced and will not require counter weighting, which adds weight to the rod, making it more tiring to use.  Check out one of Doc's Loomis', one of my Kistlers, or Dave B's St. Criox rods (I think I saw him using a Legend Tournament stick).  They do make a difference.

Fantastic rods at the prices!   The F series rods are very good at 2 for $40.  The P series rods are GREAT at 2 for $65 (without the cases).

Prices go up February 10th, so you gotta hurry.   Don't even think twice at these prices.  I have a bunch of them and they are really nice.

I used to use the rods with the weights in the handles.  All it does is make your arm tired.  You'll be casting hundreds of times in a tournament.
