Anybody ever make sense of wine reviews?  Here's the beginning of one I just read:

"The Wine Advocate 92 points: 'Gorgeous aromas of crushed rocks/wet stones, " ...

What the freak do crushed rocks and wet stones smell like?  If' you're imagining down in the bay like I am, I wouldn't want to drink that wine.

These guys are so full of themselves and trying so hard to be "original" that they just don't make any sense.

Hence the term " Wine Snobs "

I would prefer one with a nice bouquet of eel grass mixed with a finish of Hydrilla and dock wood.

I do enjoy drinking wine but...

Wow, Mad Dog 20/20.  Popular in high school.  At least until Boone's Farm Apple wine showed up...

I don't need their ridiculous taste analogies, however it is helpful to know about the cheaper bottles that are good (the diamond in the rough).

rene juno red table wine is a good cheap one.
was a recommendation from the wine buyer at one of the hoitier toitier restaurants here in town a while back...
lots of expensive wines at his disposal and he said this was what he drank at home.
pretty good stuff for just over 10 dollars a bottle (big magnum bottle).

Cheap, good wine is an oxymoron.  :rolleyes: Anyway, one of the best, cheap wines I've ever come across is Carlo Rossi Chianti.  It's the house Chianti at Rocco & Anna's here in Parkesburg and I think this is a really good everyday table wine.  This is a real Italian JUG wine - you can only get it in a gallon jug and at only $14, it's darn good value.

Rocco & Anna's is a great little Italian restaurant.  and you thought Bruce was the only great thing in Parkesburg...
