McNabb

Profootballtalk.com hears that Donovan McNabb could be with the Rams as soon as Friday, in exchange for the first pick of the second round.

PFT's source is a "tipster with a limited but viable track record." We're as skeptical of this report as we were of the last McNabb/Rams report.  For the Rams to part with a high pick, they'd need McNabb to agree to an extension. It's likely that the 33-year-old would balk at a long-term deal with a team so far removed from playoff contention.

Vick

Report: Eagles to pay Vick's bonus

Citing "multiple league sources," Geoff Mosher of the Delaware News Journal reports that the Eagles fully intend to pay Michael Vick's $1.5 roster bonus, due March 5, and trade him thereafter.

The thinking is, $1.5 million is worth it if the Eagles can get a mid-round draft choice in exchange for Vick. Mosher indicates that Philadelphia is targeting a third- or fourth-round pick as compensation.

The odds of getting a third- or fourth-rounder for Vick seem long, but time will tell whether this is a smart decision. It's possible that a team like Buffalo will emerge from the draft without a quarterback of the future or present. Vick, 29, may be viewed as a better stopgap solution with more long-term potential than Ryan Fitzpatrick or Trent Edwards, convincing 91-year-old owner Ralph Wilson that Vick is worth a valuable pick in the 2011 draft.

More from Mosher:

The Eagles are expected to "prioritize business over football" with regard to their quarterback situation. So they're willing to trade starting quarterback Donovan McNabb if a team meets their asking price, believed to be at least a first-round pick

word has it the birds are looking for a second for vick, since if they let him walk next season, they will most likely get a comp 3rd. i still cant see them paying 5.5 mil or whatever it is, but it is an uncapped year.

as for mcnabb, i cant see him going to the rams.
