I bought a couple Magellan's from Amazon.  4" screen, came with power cords, holder and a couple different mounts.

All the cabbies up in Boston have the Magellans or the Tom Toms.  Check them both out and buy which ever one you think looks and operates the best.  They both seem to work just fine.

So I ended up buying a Garmin 255W.  Tried one out and liked it and it was on sale at the time.  Liked it so much I bought another for myself. 

I was using a Lowrance hand held and it was too small to read and not intuitive like the software for driving.

Tom Tom very very easy easy.......Pep boys 89.00 with a 20.00 mail in rebate. Bought them for my company trucks and if those knuckle heads can use them they are pretty easy.

I could have paid $99 for Garmin or TomTom, but spent $120 so it speaks street names and a few other features.  I am sure they are equal.
