BATTERY QUESTION

Hey Guys, I checked my Marine Batteries and there is a sticker on each of them. One say 15 and the other says 17. They are both round stickers. These are the batteries that I bought with the boat last year.  Are they showing the year the battery needs to be replaced since the 17 can't be the year I purchased it. Thanks

No. Best thing to do is to have them tested. Manufacturers put stickers on batteries to let them know things like date of sale, where it was made etc. Replace hem with the largest ones that you can fit in the boat if you do. 29 or 31 series will likely be the model.

I would buy a voltmeter and measure them periodically after being charged and sat stagnant for 8hours without a charger. See what kind of voltage they hold and that will tell you when they are on their way out. If it's 12.5 or below they are on their way out

You should consider AGM's for your boat. This is just my opinion . I think they have many advantages over regular marine batteries.
They do weigh more( approx 75lbs each) and cost is a factor but they are no maintenance and high performance.
