this is a 6'3" Medium, Fast Action baitcast rod from Kistler. It was used once. i broke one of these rods and had to replace it real quick for a tournament. i bought this rod, used it for a quarter of the day throwing rattle traps, and then got a warranty replacement from Kistler. Id like to 150 for this rod, its 225 new.

shoot me an email if your interested, i can get pictures if youd like. it is the 2009 model and comes with the Kistler rod cover.

You bought one just for a tournament?  :undecided:  Dumb arse, you just shoulda asked to borrow one.    That way you'd only had to pay if you broke it.

I've been using Kistler's for 6 years and only broke one - due to what Brian stated above.  I can't blame a rod for breaking when a locker lid slams down on it.  I, also, have not  experienced any probems with the inserts popping out of the line guides on my LTA's, that I heard a lot of complaints about.  I did have an insert pop out of the tip on one of my Graphite Plus rods, and I replaced the tip.  Overall, I have NO issues with Kistler rods in the six years I've used them.  I have 17 at this point and wouldn't consider any other rod.
Opps! I have to ammend the statement as I did break a second Kistler, one of the Graphite Plus - I had a smallie floppping around on my deck at Blue Marsh and I grabbed the rod at around guide #3 from the tip and the flopping fish snapped the rod at guide #2.  Again that was my dumb fault, not the rod's.  So I've broken 2 Kistler rods.  Both due to my stupidity.

You heard it here, first. Bruce comes clean. So, tell me, Bruce, is confession good for your soul?
Bruce, 17 Kistler rods!??! Have you considerd that you are addicted and need intervention or at least counseling? I know that Dave C is here to help you with your problem and will gladly help you diminish lyour overabundance of those accumulating K brand rods.

Listen to the Doctor.

And I hear that donating feels much better than getting any compensation when you are trying to break addiction.

It pays to be an optimist.  Even if you are wrong, you are happy about it.

You're right, I have NO patience.  But if you have any interest in getting a Kistler Argon or LTA at half price for new with tags you've got to act fast.  The guy I get mine from will stop selling Kistler rods in mid-Dec.  Selection is shrinking but most all of the Argon and several of the LTA's can be had.  Magnesiums are getting very hard to find.  Kistler '09 production is over and they're changing the rods (AGAIN, damn it).  2010 models will be available in January, and I bet Kistler will adjust his prices upward (AGAIN, damn it).

Bruce,

Have you been eyeing up the Z-bonez?  Do you like the micro guides?  I don't but I want to pick up some Kistler spinning rods (this year I want to update my spinning gear).  I also want to add the weight system to some of my existing Kistlers.  I spoke with Trey.  He can do it in December.

By the way, I got your voice mail where you said you were Trey Kistler.  You had me going for a minute.

No Z-bonz for me Ryan.  I am too happy with my older LTA's.  I wouldn't pony up the cash for the LTX (even at $250) I didn't like the handle, no way I'd spend $450 for a rod, just no way.

As far as the micro guides, not for me either.  I've heard pro's & con's concerning the micro's, and while they may be a worth while investment on a truely CUSTOM rod, I don't think so for a production rod.  Too many variables involved from what I've read/heard/etc.  And again I'm just too satisified with the older LTA's, actually like them better than the new ones.

The Argon is nice also, very close in feel to the older LTA's, but I'm still not entirely happy with those split grips, especially on the crankbait rods.  I throw a lot of two handed casts with treble hooks since the fiasco at Kerr.
It's not such a negative with the worm rods, as I throw them one handed, it's when I put my second hand on that little butt cap, I don't particularly like.

Now on the spinning rods, I have an '09 LTA and the split handle feels good on the spinning rod - go figure, I can't explain it any better than I can explain why I like left retrieve spinning reels, but right hand casting reels.  But I could go with the new LTA's for spinning, if I didn't already have a full load of the '08 and 07's.

You want to add a weight system to your rods?  Kind of defeats the purpose of buying light weight sitcks - no way I want any added weight on my Kistlers.  I understand the "balance" issue, but I'm more interested in keepting the weight of the combo down, rather than having it perfectly balanced at some arbitray point forward of the reel seat.  And if you change lure weights that affects your balance point.  Way to technical for me.

If it were me, and it's not, I'd float a loan and buy them now while they are 50% off.  After Jan. you'll likely have to pay list.  That's not like you .  New LTA for $130, you can't possibly resist that.
