Chester County Bass Masters held their first of five opens for the season on March 26th out of Anchor Marine in Northeast Maryland.

32 Teams showed up on a cold early spring Saturday to search for some of the Upper Bay's largemouth coming out of their winter haunts.

Air temps at launch were around 36 but thankfully not much wind. The tournament launched at 6:45 under sunny skies with a forecast high of 58. Light winds rolled in halfway thru the day under a bluebird sky.

Water temps were in the 50 to 53-degree range depending on where you fished. Water in the Northeast was off colored/muddy but clearer out on the Flats and Susky.

Launch was on the low tide tide with a high around 1:30, light winds kept the tide out lower than normal for a few hours.
The fishing was tough for the most part with only a handful of teams finding any concentration of bass. 3 limits were brought in for the 2:30 weigh in, with 7 bags over 10 pounds.

Five bass over 5 pounds and three over 4 pounds brought to the scale.

8 cash places were paid, along with 7 sponsor prizes from Susquehanna Tackle, River Bottom Reels, Cabela's of Christiana Mall, Nauti Goose Restaurant, Sunoco, Hi Seas fishing line and Mudd Butt Baits.

All bass were released alive and healthy.

Thanks to everyone who came out to fish, we and our sponsors appreciate the support and friendly competition.

The next Chester County open of 2016 will be on Saturday, April 23rd out of Anchor Marine.
