Chester County Bass Masters held their 4th of five Points Opens for the 2022 season on September 24th out of Anchor Marine in Northeast Maryland.

52 Teams showed up on a cool early Autumn Saturday in search of a 5 fish limit of Upper Bay black bass.

The largemouth were in early fall transition pattern, water temps the last couple weeks have been dropping with the bite being unpredictable for the most part..
The field was full of the best Upper Chesapeake Bay fisherman the 5 state area has to offer.

A rainy/windy cold front moved thru the area Thursday into early Friday dropping night temps into the high 40's
Wind was calm for tournament morning.
Air temps at launch were around 48 to 50.

The tournament launched at 6:30 under partly cloudy, cool skies with a forecast high of 70.
Water temps were in the 67 -72 degree range depending on where you fished. Water color was fairly dirty/stained from the rain in most areas.
Launch was on a falling tide with low tide having been 4:00 am. and high around  10:15 am.
Six flights went out with the first flight due back at 2:30 and each additional flight of 10 boats due back ten minutes apart.

20 five fish limits were brought in.
  9 teams had 4 fish
11 bass over 4 pounds were weighed in.
  2 bass over 5 pounds were weighed in.


6 cash places were paid, along with 21 sponsor prizes from Susquehanna Tackle, Rhino linings of Delaware, Dobyns Rods, Zee Bait Company, Steak & Main Restaurant, Eastern Marine of Newark, Nichols Lures, 13 Fishing, Cabelas - Pauls Plastering, Buff USA, Pro-Tec Boat Care Products, Harmony Fishing Tackle, Bass Pro Shops, Boomerang Tools, Smallmouth Crush, Hayabusa Hooks, Native Tungsten Weights, Hi Seas Line, Bass Cat, Simms, Venom Lures, Trailer Parts Superstore of Newark, Upper Bay outdoors, Buck Brook Alpacas, Black Rifle Coffee Company and Accu-Cull.

23 boats participated in $ 60 option pot which paid 3 spots.


The winning boat is eligible for the Power Pole Captains Cash and the T & H Marine contingency cash if they are signed up for those programs.

The next Chester County Open tournament of 2022 will be on Saturday, October 29th out of Anchor Marine.  This will be 5th and last point tournament for the Series.
The Top 5 year end prizes for the Series ( 4 of 5 TXs counted ) will be awarded after weigh in.

( There will be a No points, Cash only Open TX on Nov 12th paying 3 Places and  2 Lunkers )

First place cash payout and championship plaques went to a team that has been on top a few times over the years at our Opens. They are no strangers to winning on the Upper Bay and are always a threat for a top 5 finish in any TX they enter.
Mike Sentore and Sean McKee finished first on a tough bite day and won by 1.5 pounds.

The 2016 CCBM Opens Points Champs are looking for a top 5 finish in  the 2022 points race with one TX left.

The pair found the right bites to bring in a 5 fish limit of 18.37 Lbs to take home the win and a nice cash payout.
Their big fish was 4.24 lbs.

The Team also took home additional $$$$$ by entering the $ 60 Option Pot and taking first place cash there.

They are also eligible for the Power Pole Contingency cash for $ 250, and the T & H Marine Contingency $$$ if signed up for the programs.

Second place cash went to Jerry Gerlach and Mark Ely. The team put together an outstanding 5 fish limit for this day weighing in at 16.84 Lbs.
Their big fish was 4.20 lbs.

The pair also entered the Option Pot taking home the $$$ for 2nd place from that voluntary pot.

Along with 2nd place cash, the team also received a nice package of products from Dobyns Rods !

Third place money was won by Michael Grello and Kevin Hoffman who brought a 5 fish limit to the scales that topped out at 14.91 Lbs., putting some cash in their pockets.
Their big fish was 3.41 lbs.

Along with the cash, the team also received a nice package of products from Dobyns Rods !

Fourth place dough was earned by longtime Open contestants Ken Cassella and Bruce Richert weighing in a 5 fish bag for 14.75 Lbs.
Their big fish was 3.79 lbs.

Fifth place coin went to the team of Jim Miller and Mark Edmeads  who weighed in 5 fish for 14.73 Lbs.

The team also won the Accu-Cull 4th Lunker award with a nice 4.84 Upper Bay bass that earned them a Digital Accu-Cull scale and a Set of Accu-Cull Elite E Con cull tags.

Sixth place and the last cash spot was collected by the team of Jesse Magee and Vince Melfi who brought 5 fish to the scales for 14.59 Lbs.  Nice finish in a big field of quality anglers.
Their big fish was 3.68 lbs.

The pair also entered the Option Pot taking home the $$$$ for 3rd place from that voluntary pot.
