The 'censor' isnt allowed to censor for another week or two, after the banter dies :).

I love braid on a spinning reel, but there are a couple of points you need to keep in mind.

Some braid has no body at all, completely limp.  This is not the kind to use on a spinning reel as it will tangle and knot up on the first guide due to the way it coils off the reel.  For this reason, I use power pro green, and I'm with Doc, 30 Lb. test is fine.

Also, I prefer a LARGE reel for this application, or at least a reel with a large spool.  I haven't tried them but the new US REEL models have that on a smaller reel body.  This allows casting with fewer coils coming off the reel and feeding through the first guide.

The only time you don't want to use braid is in clear, open water conditions, not something we have a lot of around here.  Even in clear water, if the vegetation is thick, you can use braid without a problem.

I'm a big braid fan, and was using it exclusively in the past, but now I'm spooling some with  flurocarbon and some with hybrid extra soft for various applications.
