I like the Experts, and would likely choose them for slow presentations like jigs and plastics.  I like that most come in either split grip or full cork, as do the Dobyns rods.  I have found the split grips ok for spinning rods and the plastics.  I think I'd step down (not much of a step down) to the Cara for moving baits, cranks and spinnerbaits.  I like a full cork handle there.  I don't know too much about the Cara Reaction rods but they have a composite blank for crankbaits (again Dobyns does also) - I really liked the composite blank Kistlers I had (now Pillager has them).  Falcon offers a wide selection of rods - like the old Kistlers which originally got my attention.  But it's all just conjecture, unless I find someone with a lump of cash to spend on a locker full of rods, but it's sill fun checking them out.

J/J that's SICK.  I've heard of damaged tubes, but luckily I've never had one put on my porch.  I would be scared to death to open one bent that badly, figure nothing but pieces would I shake out.  I really don't think I'll find a buyer for a locker full of rods, so I'll probably remain a Kistler user for while anyway, but thanks for the offer.  It's not like I woke up this morning hating Kistler rods - I like every one I have, the problem is that most of the rods I have are no longer made.  Replacing one may be an issue in the future.  I'm just looking for a rod maker that maintains some consistancy across it's product line.  If an opportunity comes up then I would change.

Bruce, tell us the rest of the story.  I still don't understand how you switched from Kistler as a religion last week to casting them off completely this week.  Did they kill animals in the production process?

I really can't offer specifics in a public forum, it may be construed as slander.  It's not of course, I wouldn't resort to that.  But you know (or should)  that honesty and integrity are extremely important to me.  Suffice it to say I have found that, to my dismay and in my opinion, a certain rod manufacturer obviously has very little of either, has virtually no consideration for his customers other than getting their money, and cannot establish or apparently has any concern for consistancy with his product.  And is a stong proponent of CENSORSHIP.  That about covers it in a nut shell.
