It pays to be an optimist.  Even if you are wrong, you are happy about it.

God help you both, if someone in your family would ever be unfortunate enough to succumb to the scourge of drugs.  It's a sad occurance, especially for the family she leaves behind that were unable to help her.  Nothing to be made light of, or worse yet - very tasteless jokes.
Too serious?  Well I have two friends that both lost children to drugs before the age of 22.  They are still hurting today after a decade since their loss.  It's truely a sad situation.

I agree with everything you said.  I have known people who have lost their lives or even died from drugs.  I feel for the people we speak of.

But I do believe in humor and do not find any subject off color.

I feel we've touched a nerve, Bruce, sorry.  But I bet most of us know someone who died from drug use.  I'm with Eli on this one though.

How about Jimmy Hendrix or Janice Joplin?  They been long enough?

Getting shot to death is something horrible too, but we made fun of Bin Laden...

Yeah, like a dentist.  But getting shot, killed at the hands of another by whatever method or in a traffic accident, is usually a sudden tragic thing.  Killing a terrorist is also entirely different.  Dying by your own hand, usually slowly over time by drugs while your friends and family watch the downward spiral is another entirely.  Hendrix, Joplin, Morrison, Ruffin, Belucci, Ledger, so many others - all tragic - and as I lived during their time, yes I still feel their loss as a fan and I imagine their familys more so.  You know me - humor is an important part of my personality and I love it as much as anyone, but I find no humor in the above posting and for me it crosses the line.  Sorry guys, but once again I have to disagree with you.
