Anyone hit the Phila Sportsman's Show at Valley Forge last year?  Is it worthwhile?

Timonium two years ago was a waste of time.

Reading last year was unexciting - unless you count unexpectedly running into Eli.

Eastern Show at Harrisburg - hunting, hunting, atv's & more hunting, but I did see a couple boats two years ago, while Irv wore my ass out pushing him around in a wheelchair.  

Phila. Boat Show is for Bay boats and offshore boats, very little for the bass fisherman.

Suffern, NY, never been there, but I expect it's just more of the same.  OH I HAVE A JOKE:  What is Suffern known for:

The Timonium show sucks worse every year. The Philadelphia sportsman's how at VF was really a total waste! After having been chauferred by Bruce I cannot see why I would want to return to any of these shows as I was at the best and got royal treatment. The best only happens once. Of course,if I get the left knee surgery done this winter, well, Bruce, you can push me around again if you so desire.
I have no intention of going to any of these shows.

i had a good time at the timonium show last winter.
overall, it was pretty lame, but still better than a day at work.
ken penrod seminar was decent.
captain karl bunch seminar was decent.
some guide from lake anna/smith mountain was decent.
i left before jimmy houston showed up.

i took few hundred bucks down with me and only spent about a third of it.   thought id find more "deals" than in did.

beefs with the show...
1.  treated like a red headed step child by the people at the susquehanna fishing tackle booth.  so much so, that after spending only $50 there, i wished i hadn't.  (my beef has since been resolved).
2.  when going by the shimano booth, the two reps in the booth were jib jabbing about strippers and hookers and getting wasted the whole time i was in the booth.  to the point where it seemed like they were trying to show off to me.  couple of real tools ("reel" tools?)who didn't seem to know any more about their product than i did.

i'll be back again this year.  even though its not the super awesomest best fishing show ever, its still a decent cure for cabin fever.

i went to one in fort washington about 10 years ago that was really good, but i don't think they have it anymore.  is that the valley forge show now?

ny boat show is supposed to be pretty decent.

While they were all lame, I will likely go again anyway. 

The Ft Washington show is now the Reading show.

The Valley Forge show was 100% worse than the others but over time it will grow to be equally bad as the others.

I used to go to the Suffern show every year and it was great.  But I can't remember anything more about it that is now lame at the others. 

They all seem to be worth a day off from work.

I'm baffled, but what I think you tried to say is that the Valley Forge show was SO BAD it can only improve - enough to be equally as bad as the others in a few years..... :-\

Yea, the Valley Forge Show was very small.  The only funny thing was Sebs musky men were there because they thought it was the Ft Washington replacement and they registered to have a booth at the wrong show.

I would have been there for less than an hour if I didn't spend 1/2 hour talking to Seb and another 1/2 hour talking to Bob Bonney at the PAFBC booth.

Even though they are lame I'll probably would go again to waste a few minutes.  Of course, being the same weekend as Reading, I would go there.  They were larger and I did sit for a couple good seminars at the Reading show.

Where were you when I fell into that trap in 2002?  AND ELI - don't trust Doc to keep you from buying a boat  :rolleyes:  REMEMBER last April, when he drug me kickin' & screaming down to MD.  I think he broke two of his Loomis rods over my back before I submitted and bought another boat.  He of course got new rods............................................ :grin: FREE!  :grin:  :grin:
