You are making assumptions on the very limited TX experience you have and probably on lake fishing versus tidal water.

You are right on a few points, but assuming on the most will not get  you your answers.
Cbait and trap fishing, if I am fishing a larger TX, yes I will have been out on the water before hand, and narrowed it down to what bait,  This goes hand in hand with the previous discussion on color of cbaits.
Shad or chartreuse, not too hard to narrow that down.  Once I have it, I will fish that bait all day, like I said, I do not waste time in larger TX's.  No changing baits, no stopping to eat, no BS. As far as running time, I almost always find spots close to the launch, the grass is not always greener the farther you run.
I have won TX's without ever running my gas motor, save for getting the boat off and back on the trailer. There are days I put the trolling motor down and start fishing and just stay on it, and fish from spot to spot, you would be surprised  at the fish you can catch on non fishy looking spots while moving to another...........one of the reasons I have the biggest trolling motor batteries made, so I can do that all day.

Fatigue will play a factor IF you are not conditioned to throwing a cbait all day, but also if you are using equipment that makes you work harder to throw the bait.......Deep divers will make you work hard, heavy rods, all play a part in fatigue, but conditioning is  # 1, you have yo have done this for a long time to realize how to economize your arm actions, reeling etc so not to put undo wear on your self.
Sit on one spot all day ?  Of course , it happens more than you think in TX's.  If you have done your homework and find a spot that offers the bass a quick movement from cover to deeper water you can sit on an area all day.....I've done it  with 2 people on the boat, literally sat on a spot no larger than a 2 car garage for 9 hours, both  of us catching fish every 35 minutes or so......remember he first rule of TX fishing........never leave fish to find fish.  This spot is about 15 minutes from the ramp, and there are plenty of others like it, all within 15 minutes run time, some much less.  Monotonous ?  Yes, and with a back seater, it has to be fished in tandem, each has to follow the same pattern for it to work.
When fishing an area like this, you're not making 2 handed , heaving as far as you can casts with a cbait.  Most casts will be 20 feet or less, water depths range from 2 to 10 feet.  You use a dissection approach, pick apart any obvious structure, then  using a clockwise motion, make short casts in 1-2 foot increments all the way around the perimeter, you cover virtually every inch of the bottom this way.  By the time you get  back 360 * to the starting point, the tide will have moved in/out a bit more, the fish will move a little with it, you start around again.  Unlike lake/pond fishing tidal water changes every hour, so with each go around you are hitting a little different water structure. 
Do I do this all the time fishing cranks, No.  But  there are certain times /conditions during the year that it happens.
Ask George how many times He has  " stopped  by ' and seen me thru out a TX day when these days happen.
The hardest part of these days is trying to keep the spot, you do a lot of " Red Man Shuffles "with the boat to stay on the prime area.
Come spring , before the Rally  you'll have to come out with me for a day during the week, we can compare ways to cbait fish....

I've been on the flats striper fishing with traps or swimbaits which are cranked about as fast as you can reel, and there is no way I'm going to make 150 casts an hour on open water, for any extended period of time.  I just can't comprehend doing a hundred more than that every hour, for the entire day.  And when those puppies are biting, those aren't really long casts either - but it does take time to release them and get back chucking the lure. 

Eli will confirm that I only cast with two hands to keep from throwing my rods overboard - Right Pillager?

And you are correct - my tournament experience is insignificant and mostly lake/reservoir.  But I do think the above striper analogy applies.

One handed roll casts for cranking shallow, both hands, so not to wear one out  :grin:
