The first Chester County Bass Masters open of the season on March 29 found a heavy overcast sky, light fog and air temps in the mid 40's at Anchor Marine.
Forecasts of heavy rain and a Flood Watch for the Upper Bay region kept a lot of boats at home, but
15 teams showed up after a harsh winter looking for some tidal bass that were still hibernating with water temps in the 40 / 41 degree range.
Light rain started just after launch and proceeded to turn into an all day cold rain with winds picking up around noon to 15+ making it a challenge to find cooperative fish.
The bass were scattered with only 3 limits brought to the scales for the 2:30 weigh in.

First place cash went to the team of Mike Sentore and Brian Stockl bringing in a healthy but cold 5 fish limit of 21.04 pounds anchored with a 5.09 big fish.

Second place prize money went to the team of Steve Weimar and Sam Montalto who also brought in a 5 fish limit weighing in at 17.29 pounds and the tournament lunker cash with a beautiful 5.58 upper bay largemouth.

Third place cash went to the team of Mike Piccolo and Paul Steiner bringing in the last 5 fish limit weighing in at 11.99 pounds.

Thanks to all who fished in the weather, our next open will be on Saturday May 31 st out of Anchor Marine.
