Chester County Bass Masters held their fourth of five opens for the season on October 24th out of Anchor Marine in North East, Maryland.

The title sponsors for the tournament were Susquehanna Fishing Tackle and Ashford Farm.

32 Teams showed up on a typical chilly fall Saturday to search for some of the Upper Bay's largemouth that have been feeding up in the past few weeks in anticipation of winter.

Air temps at launch were around 38 but thankfully no wind. The tournament launched at 7:00 under sunny skies with a forecast high of 58. Cloud cover rolled in halfway thru the day with a slight breeze.

Water temps were in the 57 to 64-degree range depending on where you fished, with some off-colored water in areas of the North East.

Launch was on the end of the rising tide with a high around 8:00 and a falling tide all day, low was to occur around 2:45.

The fishing was tough for the most part with only a handful of teams finding any concentration of bass. 7 limits were brought to the scales for the 2:30 weigh in, with 8 bags over 10 pounds.

The big girls took the day off with only three bass over 5 pounds and three over 4 pounds brought to the scale.

7 cash places were paid, along with 6 sponsor prizes from Susquehanna Tackle, Browning Eyewear, River Bottom Reels, Cabela's of Christiana Mall, Sunoco, and GRT jigs.

Thanks to everyone who came out to fish, we and our sponsors appreciate the support and friendly competition.

The last Chester County open of 2015 will be on Saturday, November 14th out of Anchor Marine.

First place payout went to the team of Lou Croce and Jimmy Pitcherello. No strangers to fishing the Upper Bay, they outdistanced the rest of the field with a hefty limit of 19.53 pounds. Included in that impressive bag was a healthy 5.47 fat girl which earned them a $ 50.00 gift card for the Susquehanna Tackle second lunker award for the tournament. The win puts them in a first place tie for the overall points race in the CCBM Opens.

Congrats to the team on a fantastic day.

Second place cash went to the team of Ken Cassella and Rick Patton who brought in a 5 fish limit weighing in at 15.92 Lbs. with a big fish of 4.57, nice work on a tough day.

Third place money was won by the team of Kevin Geesey and John Kopp who brought 4 bass to the scales that topped out at 14.01 Lbs., with a big fish of 5.20 pounds. Kevin owns River Bottom Reels. If you need any reels tuned or rebuilt, he does excellent work and is local.

Fourth place dough was earned by the team of John Vanore and John Knee who weighed in a 5 fish limit for 12.81 Lbs. with a big fish of 3.23 pounds, a good bag for the day.

Fifth place coin went to the team of Luke Shrader and Cliff Humphreys who weighed in a nice 5 fish limit of 12.42 Lbs. The top 5 finish puts them in a tie for first place in the overall CCBM open points standings and assures them one of the year-end prizes awarded to the top 3 point finishers in the CCBM Opens.

Sixth place cash was collected by the team of Duke Nave and Angelica Wright who fell 2 short of a limit but brought 3 nice fish to the scales for 11.86 Lbs., an almost 4-pound average.

The seventh and final money spot was won by a team who is consistently at the top, Mike Sentore and Sean McKee who brought in a 5 fish limit weighing 11.30 Lbs. With one more CCBM Open to go they are in the top 3 point standings.

Lunker money went to the team of Ed Gardner and Bryce Melchior who only brought one fish to the scales, but it was the right one, a 5.96 hog.

Eighth place and first team out of the money won the $ 50.00 Cabela's Christiana Mall gift card. Jim Helmetag and Ben Werbos brought in 3 nice bass for 10.67 lbs with a big fish of 4.88 lbs.

Ninth place won the River Bottom Reels $ 25.00 gift card. George Waeckel and JW Wade weighed in 4 bass for 9.81 lbs which included a nice smallmouth.

Tenth place and a $ 25.00 Sunoco gas card went to the team of Keith and Zach Cowan weighing 3 bass for 9.56 with a big fish of 4.62 lbs.

Eleventh spot won a $ 25.00 GRT Jigs gift card which went to James Stewart and Mark Siliva with a limit of bass for 9.41 lbs.

Twelfth place and the final prize of a pair of Browning polarized fishing glasses went to Scott Dise and Mike Nearhoof with 5 bass for 9.04 lbs.

Total cash payout was $ 2,624 along with $ 265 in sponsor prizes.

The final 2015 Open will be on November 14th.

We count points for each team's best 4 out of the 5 Opens towards the final standings.
