Chester County Bass Masters held their 5th of five opens for the 2020 season on October 24th out of Anchor Marine in Northeast Maryland.

72 Teams participated in the final points tournament of the year with some looking to finish in the top 5 teams for 2020.
The day was overcast as the anglers went out in search of a 5 fish limit of Upper Bay black bass. The largemouth had been in fall feed mode fattening up for cold weather.

Air temps at launch were around 50 with very little breeze. The tournament launched at 7:15 under cloudy skies with a forecast high of 72 and some possible rain in late afternoon.
A cold front rolled thru earlier than the weather guys had predicted with the winds picking up to 15 with the temps staying in the high 50's till around weigh in time.

Water temps were in the 59 - 64 degree range depending on where you fished. Water color was a little off colored in some areas, with normal color water farther south.

Launch was on a falling tide, high had been at 5:30. Low tide was 1:00 pm.

Eight flights went out with the first flight due back at 2:30 and each additional flight of 10 boats due back ten minutes apart.

25 five fish limits were brought in.
26 Double Digit bags were weighed
3 bags over 20 pounds were weighed..
10 weights over 15 lbs. were brought to the scales.
10 bass over 4 pounds were weighed in.
2 bass over 6 pounds was weighed in.

15 cash places were paid, along with 16 sponsor prizes from Susquehanna Tackle, Rhino linings of Delaware, Bass Cat, Dobyns Rods, Zee Bait Company, Steak & Main Restaurant, Eastern Marine of Newark, Nichols Lures, Limitaker Custom Baits, Gruv Fishing Boxes, Buff USA, Hayabusa Hooks, Native Tungsten Weights, Venom Lures, Harmony Fishing Company and Trailer Parts Superstore of Newark.

41 boats participated in $ 60 option pot which paid 3 spots.
$ 8,364 in cash was paid along with $ 1,200 in sponsor prizes.

CCBM will have a cash only TX on November 14th.
The TX will pay out 3 places. 50% of the Pot for first / 30 % for 2nd / 20 % for 3rd.
$ 100 entry includes the Lunker.
We'll also have the optional $ 60 pot.

First place cash payout and championship plaques went to Duke Nave and Steve Allender.

The boys brought in a fantastic bag of 21.24 Lbs to take home the win in a field of the best sticks the Upper bay has to offer.

The pair took home a boat load of cash with a Hat Trick of ; 1st place cash, Lunker cash and 1st place Option Pot money.

Included in that impressive bag was the Tournament Lunker of 6.03 Lbs. which was worth $ 720 in cash.

The Team also took home an additional $ 1476 by entering the $ 60 Option Pot and taking first place cash there.

Along with the money, the team also received a nice package of products from Dobyns Rods and Championship Plaques.

Second place cash went to one of our teams always in the top 20. Nate Brown and Larry Craighead put together an outstanding 5 fish limit weighing in at 21.01 Lbs.
It's their third 20+ pound bag in this years CCBM Opens to go along with 4 top 5 finishes.

The pair also entered the $ 60 Option Pot, taking home $ 738 for 2nd place cash from that voluntary pot.

Third place money was won by Chris Price and Jeff Semans brought a 5 fish limit to the scales that topped out at 20.18 Lbs.

The pair also entered the $ 60 Option Pot, taking home over $ 246 for 3rd place cash from that voluntary pot along with some Dobyns Rods products.

Fourth place dough was earned by the team of Dave Shellenberger and Brian Giren who weighed in a 5 fish bag for 17.14 Lbs with a big fish of 3.95 Lbs..
Congrats to Dave and Brian on a nice bag of Upper Bay bass.



Fifth place coin went to the team of Bryson Smith and Dave Keppler who weighed in a nice 5 fish limit of 16.89 Great work on the day.
Included in their bag was a 6.00 Lb. big girl that was the Susquehanna Fishing Tackle 2nd Lunker for the tournament, winning them a $ 50 SFT Store gift card.

Sixth place cash was collected by the team of Ken Cassella and Bruce Richert who brought 5 fish to the scales for 16.60 Lbs. with a big fish of 4.60 Lbs.



Seventh place money was snagged by the team of Terry Roberson and Andrew Chianese with a 5 fish limit weighing 15.45 Lbs. and a big fish of 3.27 Lbs.



Eighth place money spot was secured by the team of Duane Essick and Jay Pirollo who had a 5 bass limit for 15.36 pounds.
Included in that nice bag was the Harmony Fishing Tackle 4th Lunker of 4.86 Lbs which was also good for $ 50 worth of gear from Harmony Fishing Tackle.

Ninth place cash was collected by the team of Greg DiPlama and Joe Thompson who brought 5 fish to the scales for 15.35 Lbs. with a big fish of 3.73 lbs.



Tenth place money was collected by the team of Joey Murphy and Jeff Mellott who brought 5 fish to the table for 15.30 Lbs. with a big fish of 4.27 lbs.


Eleventh place cash went to the team of Herb Geissler and Mike Adams who brought 5 fish to the scales for 15.20 Lbs. with a big fish of 3.67 lbs.



Twelfth money spot was won by by the team of Frank Barainyak Sr. and Frank Barainyak Jr. who brought 5 fish to the scales for 14.93 Lbs. and a big fish of 4.30 Lbs.


13th cash spot was won by Mike Sentore and Sean McKee. The team brought in 5 bass for 14.53 Lbs. with a big fish of 3.92 pounds.




14th place went to the team of Ed Donelly and Mark McLennan who sacked 5 fish for 14.33 Lbs and a big fish of 4.02 Lbs.



15th place and final cash spot was collected by the team of Ron Lutz and John Schoener who brought 5 fish to the table for 14.33 Lbs. and a big fish of 3.57 Lbs.




16th thru 25th spots won gift cards or product from Zee Bait Company, Steak & Main restaurant of North East, Gruv Boxes, Venom Lures, Eastern Marine, Buff USA, Nichols Lures, Hayabusa Hooks, Limitaker Custom Baits, and Native Tungsten.


16th place and first team out of the money received a $ 90 Zee Bait card. Frank Author and J.R. Robertson brought in a limit of bass for 13.82 Lbs. and a big fish of 3.24 Lbs to claim the Zee Baits.

17th place took home a $ 50 card from Eastern Marine of Newark, Delaware.
John Baranik and Kenny Dixon put together 5 bass for 13.74 Lbs. and a big fish of 3.63 Lbs. to grab that card.

18th place won $ 50 Steak & Main restaurant card. Located on Main St. in North East, and rated one of the top Steak house in the Mid Atlantic.
Jonathan Cuccinello and Logan Fitzpatrick weighed 5 fish for 12.44 lbs. to win the card.

20th place took home Gruv Jig and Hook storage boxes. New to the market, Gruv uses silicone grips to keep the baits separated in the box. Tony Eskiridge and Danny Lam brought in 4 fish for 12.16 lbs. to the scales to take the Gruv boxes.

Richard Ewing and Brandon Riccio weighed in 5 bass for 11.23 Lbs. with a 3.08 big fish. to win the tungsten.

The smallest 5 fish limit weighed in for the tournament won a $ 200 card from Rhino Liners Custom Truck Shop of Newark Delaware, good for anything at the store. They carry Custom wheels, tires, exhaust, lift kits, custom Leather interiors, and do all service work on vehicles.


Smallest bag prizes are calculated on weights before any penalties are applied.

Keith Cowan and Zach Cowan brought 5 bass to the scales for 9.47 pounds to take home the prize.
